Practice area Distribution

Dirkzwager has specialised knowledge of the areas of law that deal with (inter)national commerce/distribution. This includes trade, industry and logistics within the country borders and abroad. We have the in-house expertise to look after your interests in this area, from (preventative) advice through to the implementation of court and arbitral decisions. We hope to use this specialist knowledge to be of service for our clients.

We act for all professional parties involved in the logistics chain, including the sender, carrier, addressee, (customs) forwarding agent, cold storage operators and their (underlying) insurers. All modes of transport are covered (road/rail/inland waterways/sea/air). Our clients include (inter)national insurance companies, companies working in or for industry, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises.

These are just some of the areas in which we provide legal advice and assistance:

  • (inter)national purchasing, including Incoterms
  • (inter)national logistics service, including the liability of all parties involved logistically
  • (inter)national collection, including auctions and sales under execution
  • insurance issues

Preventative advice

Do you use the Incoterm (different variants) that is most practical for you, including in your transport documents? The logistic chain has many links with just as many agreements that you, as a trading party, cannot and do not always need to keep track of. We can point out the pitfalls and opportunities as well as impossibilities. If you regulate your affairs properly in advance, it can prevent unnecessary costs, delays and disputes in the (near) future.

Advice without limit

Various departments in our office are knowledgeable about (inter)national commerce, as well as related legal fields such as business law and environmental law. Where necessary, we pool our knowledge in the interest of your case. Dirkzwager maintains worldwide relationships with foreign offices, including through its networks TELFA (Europe) and USLAW (US), so that you are also assisted adequately with regard to aspects that apply abroad as well. Your contact person will remain your reliable contact in all cases.
