Residence permit for work in paid employment

For certain professional groups or situations, different (often lighter) conditions have been set for a residence permit. This is the case in the following situations:

  • Employee intra-corporate transmission other than intra-corporate transfer
  • Spiritual counsellor
  • Asian restaurant employee
  • Employee in specific positions in arts and culture
  • Employee at an international non-profit organisation
  • Goods delivery by foreign company
  • Goods delivery to foreign company
  • Working through the International Trade Scheme
  • Correspondent employed by publicity medium
  • Do an internship or gain work experience
  • Seasonal employment
  • Cross-border service provider
  • UK service providers under the EU-UK Trade and Cooperation Agreement

Residence permit for other work in paid employment

For certain professions or companies it is not possible to apply for a GVVA. In these cases it is sometimes possible to apply for a residence permit for 'other work as an employee'. This is possible in the case of:

  • Work in paid employment on a seagoing vessel or mining installation
  • Spending leave in the Netherlands after working on a seagoing vessel or a mining installatio
  • Looking for work on a seagoing vessel or mining installation
  • Recovering from illness in the Netherlands as an employee on a seagoing vessel or mining installation
  • Work in paid employment as non-privileged military or non-privileged civilian staff
  • Employment under a head office agreement

Costs and decision period

The residence permit must be applied for at the IND. The IND has three months to decide on the application. The IND charges € 207 to € 345 for the applications of the permits mentioned above.
