About Eric Boerma
Eric has been practising law since 1991 when he started in general commercial practice. In 1999 he qualified as Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England & Wales. Eric has focused exclusively on employment law since 2000 and was thus involved in the creation of the current employment law section, which has 17 lawyers and is therefore among the largest employment-law sections in the Netherlands. Eric manages the employment-law section.
The basis for Eric’s practice lies in general employment law, both in an advisory and in a litigation capacity, in which connection he focuses on large and medium-sized national and multinational companies. Eric regularly handles industrial disputes with a major impact. Strategic employment law is another key focus. Eric is also often called in for employee representation issues.
Eric is also regularly involved in issues at the interface between employment and corporate law and he is involved in mergers and acquisitions on the basis of his employment-law expertise.
Eric’s efforts during the past years focused strongly on supervising (large) restructuring operations. In doing so, Eric works in team that are often composed of fellow lawyers and HR officers of the client involved. Project and time management are important points for attention in this connection. A great deal of experience has been gained in this area.
And finally, Eric is developing a focus on cross-border employment law. Transnational and migrating employees are not ignored by Dirkzwager’s practice.
Eric forms part of a multidisciplinary team that supervises reorganisations, mergers and acquisitions.

Eric is a member of the National Association of Employment Law Attorneys in Oost-Nederland (VAARA) and of the Netherlands Employment Lawyers Association (VAAN). He was also a member of the Board of Representatives of the Netherlands Bar Association until 2014. Eric was a member (chairman) of the Dirkzwager Executive Board between 2010 and 2014.
